KidSing is North Coast region’s second biennial choral event, hosted in alternate years to Choral Fanfare. KidSing allows the opportunity for state school primary school choirs across the region to come together in a series of school cluster massed choral workshops under the direction of a Guest Choral Conductor and Accompanist.
Participating choirs learn a number of pieces of set repertoire leading up to their designated workshop day. The Guest Conductor works with multiple choirs on workshop day, before presenting a concert with the massed choir at the end of the workshop.
KidSing presents an opportunity for students to experience singing in a massed choir under the direction of an expert choral conductor and accompanist. For some students, it may be their first time singing in a large choir with harmony parts and a live accompaniment. The KidSing event also provides school Choral Conductors the opportunity to undertake professional development through observation and working with the Guest Conductor during the event.
In 2020, KidSing will be run across North Coast region. Schools wishing to participate in this event or find out more can contact the North Coast region Head of Program (Events and Programs) on Margot.PAYNE@qed.qld.gov.au.
